BrowserStack Group Subscription Purchase - Split a Shared BrowserStack Plan and Account With Us

Long Live BrowserStack!

We're heading into the second year of our shared BrowserStack group purchase, and our eighth year splitting the cost of cross-browser testing services, which originally began as a Browsercam based group lasting until Compuware acquired the company and decided to shutter the service. I hate when that happens! Nevertheless, Browsercam was getting old and decrepit and no one wanted to make it better, so thankfully BrowserStack came along to fill that gap. It's twice the price, but magnitudes better.

This page serves as the jumping point for renewing or joining the BrowserStack group subscription, as well as tracking the progress of the signups. Priority for renewal will be given first to current members of our group, then to additional signups in order received.

Several of you have been with us for all seven years thus far, while others have joined in the past few years. Either way, I'm very appreciative of everyone who has been a part of this group, and I'm sure feelings are mutual amongst all of us. Since BrowserStack has more that met the needs that Browsercam previously filled, I see no reason to ever end the group myself. I enjoy coordinating the group efforts near the end of each year, though this year has been extremely busy. It is YOU that makes this group possible, so thanks again for all your support!

With the nature of Web design and development constantly changing as browsers mature in this modern era of computing, the need to ensure your sites work properly on a variety of not just browsers but devices too, especially mobile devices, is crucial. A great user experience demands consistency of expectations across multiple platforms and devices. Thus, services like Browsercam and now BrowserStack have become immensly invaluable when needed.

The annual cost per member is $86.40 (if paying by PayPal balance or bank transfer via PayPal) or $89.20 (if paying by credit card via PayPal). This breaks down to just over $7 per month per member, well-worth the price.

Payment Process

The past three years, we've been using PayPal to aggregate everyone's payments, and that's worked out quite well. Since we're already a well established group, there's no need to deviate from what works, so we'll continue using the same PayPal approach for the foreseeable future. Last year I began offering a second PayPal method to avoid fees by providing you with an alternate paypal email address that is not my Business account but rather my personal account. This worked out quite well, so I plan to continue offering that option for those who have the means to pay from their PayPal balance or bank transfer, following the method's specific instructions in the sidebar.

Total Payment Due if by Credit Card: $89.20*
Total Payment Due if by PayPal Balance or Bank Transfer: $86.40

* To cover for fees charged by PayPal, there's an additional $2.80 in the total annual payment due, making the payment amount $89.20 instead of $86.40. This covers the standard 3% + $0.30 rates charged by PayPal, but does not cover the additional fees for international payments (outside the US). I will eat any international fees incurred, as before.

Privacy Note:

As has been the case for the past 7 years, your privacy remains very important to me. I hate spam and malware as much as you. Thus, I won't sell, transfer, nor otherwise divulge your email address, not even to the rest of the group. I've set up a simple contact group on my server that hides each member's email address from the rest of the group when I email the whole group, so your email address will not be leaked due to any cause on my end. However, I do have to share your email address with BrowserStack for your user account (it's used as the login username and also to email you your login credentials when your individual user account is initially created). For BrowserStack's privacy policy, click here. Just in case, I do encourage you to use a custom email address for this venture if you can. I do that with many of my own email addresses as do other members in the group. If you don't wish to deal with that hassle though, your information will still be 100% safe and secure with me, but I can't vouch for BrowserStack. If you wish to set up two custom addresses, one for my emails sent to the group and one for your BrowserStack account itself, you certainly may. Note: If your PayPal email address is different from the email address you use for our group messages, I may add it to the contact group to make sure I can reach you effectively when it comes time for renewal.
